Training
Teams
(for institutions)
Bring the training to your department, instead of sending people out to a course.
For universities and faculties, research projects, programme and M&E teams, NGOs and TVET institutions.
A workshop run inside your own institution uses your own data, your own systems and your own examples, so people leave able to do the work rather than able to describe it. I have taught in classrooms for five years and built curricula that had to survive an external partner reading them, so sessions are planned around what your group already knows.
Individual coaching lives on the Learn page. This page is for whole groups.
What I run
- Research methods workshops: structural equation modelling, choosing the right statistical test, preparing and documenting data, and reporting results a reviewer will accept.
- Machine learning for research data: what it can and cannot answer in a study, how models are evaluated, and how to report them honestly.
- FAIR data practice for projects and repositories, so data outlives the study that produced it.
- Computing and ICT short courses for staff or students: programming, networking, systems analysis and design, website development, e-commerce.
- Curriculum and training materials written to be delivered by someone other than me.
- Conference sessions, seminars and departmental talks.
Where I have taught and built training
- Labour College of East Africa, Lecturer and Acting Head of Science and Technology, 2018 to 2023
- Islamic University in Uganda, University ICT staff since 2018
- MILTA Uganda with IOM, ILO and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development: pre-departure curriculum, 2020 to 2024
- VODAN Africa, FAIR data work during the COVID-19 lockdown
- Motion Analysis Research Laboratory, Research Assistant, 2019
How It
Works
01
Scoping call
Thirty minutes with whoever owns the budget and whoever will sit in the room. What the group can already do, what they need to be able to do, and by when.
02
A written plan
Days, sessions, the data or systems we will use, what each person leaves with, and the cost. You approve it before anything is booked.
03
Delivery and follow-up
On site or online. Materials stay with your institution, and there is a follow-up window for the questions that only appear once people start using it.
Ask about a workshop for your group.
Tell me who the group is, roughly how many, and the window you are working in. I will come back with what I would run and what it would cost.
ready for your free 30-minute call?
P.S. If you are writing a proposal and need a training component costed, the call is the quickest way to get numbers you can put in it.
