Research
Areas
(what I work on)
* Four strands of work, and what each one is for.
My work sits where measurement, data and technology meet education and development. Each strand below says what it covers and where you can see the output.
These are also the methods I bring when I work alongside other researchers on their data.
The
Strands
Structural Equation Modeling and measurement
Building and testing measurement and structural models: whether an instrument measures what it claims to measure, how well the items hold together, and whether the paths support the hypotheses. This is the method behind most of the analyses I run with other researchers.
FAIR data and VODAN Africa
Making research data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable. I served as a VODAN Africa expert during the COVID-19 lockdown; the project record is on OSF.
Artificial intelligence, machine learning and human-centred AI
Machine learning, deep learning, large language models, human-centred AI (HCAI) and affective computing, together with the cloud and IoT infrastructure they run on — applied to research data and to teaching.
ICT and green skills in teaching
How ICT and green skills are adopted in teaching and learning. This is the subject of my book, Adopting ICT and Green Skills in Teaching and Learning, and of my teaching work.
